Mobile Notifications

HqO sends push notifications and in-app alerts to keep tenants informed about building updates, booking confirmations, and new content. Tenants control which notifications they receive from their Profile settings.

Notification Types

The notification center includes the following categories:

CategoryDescription
ContentAlerts tied to building content β€” events, announcements, deals, and offers
InformationalBuilding updates sent directly by the property team (recommended: keep on)
Resource BookingUpdates on room and resource reservations

Resource Booking Notifications

Tenants receive booking-related notifications in these cases:

  • Booking confirmed β€” an admin confirmed a request for a resource without auto-confirmation
  • Booking denied β€” an admin denied a booking request
  • Booking cancelled β€” a no-show cancellation was triggered because the tenant didn't check in
  • Date/time change β€” an admin updated the date or time of an existing booking

Notification Center

Tenants access the in-app notification center by tapping the bell icon on the home screen. All notifications from HqO Admin appear here regardless of device push settings.

Key behaviors:

  • Notifications linked to content deep link to the associated post or event β€” a right-facing arrow indicates the notification is tappable.
  • Notifications without attached content are display-only (no arrow, not tappable).
  • Notifications are retained for 90 days, then archived automatically.
  • If content tied to a notification is archived, the notification is also removed.
  • Tenants associated with multiple buildings receive notifications for each building separately.

Managing Notifications

Tenants access notification settings at Profile > Notification preferences. Settings are per building, so tenants can have different preferences for each property.

ActionHow
Mark all as readTap the open envelope icon inside the notification center
Mark single as readSwipe left to right on the notification, tap Mark as read
Mark as unreadSwipe left to right on the notification, tap Mark as unread
Delete a notificationSwipe right to left, tap the delete icon

Push vs. In-App Notifications

  • If a tenant disables push notifications at the device level, they receive no push alerts β€” but all notifications still appear in the in-app notification center.
  • If a tenant disables specific categories in their notification preferences, they receive push notifications only for the categories they've kept on.
  • Tenants only see notification types relevant to the features enabled at their building.

Admin: Sending Notifications

Building admins send notifications from HqO Admin > Communications > Notifications. Content-linked notifications are sent directly from the content record. Standalone informational notifications are sent from the Notifications tab. Character limits apply to keep notifications concise.

πŸ’‘ Tip: All notifications sent from HqO Admin appear in the tenant's in-app notification center, even if the tenant has push notifications disabled.
