Create content
Content tiles are how your building talks to tenants inside the app โ a memo about the lobby works, a new cafรฉ opening, a wellness program, a neighborhood deal. This guide takes one tile from blank draft to live, and shows you how to keep it useful afterwards.
Before you start
| Have to hand | Why |
|---|---|
| A title and a subtitle of 25 characters or fewer | Both are required. The subtitle is the one line under the title on the tile โ treat it as the hook. |
| A landscape image, ideally 1284 ร 852px, with no text baked into it | Required. Sharp, simple, and yours to use โ stock sites like Unsplash and Pexels are fine. |
| The section it belongs in | Tiles live in named sections (Events & Happenings, Wellness at Workโฆ). A tile with no section lands in Explore, where fewer people look. |
| Who should see it, and when it should stop showing | Most tiles go to everyone. Anything date-bound should have an expiry so it archives itself. |
You need HqO Admin access with a role that can edit Experience. Sections, audiences and the app's tabs are set up for you โ see Content if you need to change them.
How the job fits together
| Step | What you do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Write the tile | Title, subtitle, image, body | Experience โ Content โ Create content |
| 2. Add a button (optional) | A call to action โ a link, a file, an RSVP, a survey | Edit tab โ CTA button |
| 3. Target and publish | Audience, section, push notification, dates | Schedule and Target tabs |
| 4. Look after it | Promote, reorder, edit, archive | The Content page |
Step 1: Write the tile
- Check the building selector shows the right building, then go to Experience โ Content.
- Click Create content. A new Draft tile opens in the editor on the Edit tab.
- Fill in Content details:
- Title and Subtitle โ short and specific. Emojis are fine here and get noticed.
- Show a date & time in content details โ turn on if the tile is about something happening at a specific time. Tenants can then add it to their calendar.
- Upload the Image, then fill in Image alt text with a plain, one-line description of it. It's required, and it's what screen-reader users hear.
- Write the body. Basic text is right for most tiles. Use Custom builder when you need images, video, attachments or color blocks laid out โ a newsletter-style piece, say.
The Preview pane on the right shows the tile as tenants will see it while you type.

๐ก Two body options, one rule. The custom builder is powerful, but a tile that's mostly text reads better in Basic text. Reach for the builder when layout is the point.
Step 2: Add a button (optional)
A CTA button gives the tile something to do. Under Additional modules on the Edit tab, turn on CTA button, enter the CTA button text, and choose what it does:
| Choose | When |
|---|---|
| View a link โ External URL | A website, a video, a form on another platform |
| View a link โ Screen in this app | Send tenants to a booking, a survey, or another tile inside the app |
| View a link โ Uploaded media | A PDF or image โ a menu, a floor plan, a policy |
| Submit an RSVP or claim | Count interest, or let tenants claim a deal (you can cap claims per person). For events with registration, use Run an event instead โ it tracks attendees properly. |

Label the button with a short verb phrase โ Book now, See the menu, Learn more. For RSVPs and claims, the tile's Reports tab then shows the totals and who responded.
Attaching a survey. Surveys are built separately, under Experience โ Surveys. Once the survey exists, attach it from either side: on the tile, choose View a link โ Screen in this app โ Surveys and pick it; or on the survey's Target tab, search for this tile under Content and select it. The survey opens when tenants tap the tile's button, and inherits the tile's audience. See Surveys for building one.
Step 3: Target and publish
- Click Schedule in the left sidebar.
- Publish now, or Schedule for later with a date and time.
- Set an Archive on date for anything time-bound. When it passes, the tile moves itself to Archive and disappears from the app โ no clean-up needed.
- Click Target.
- Audience โ defaults to everyone in the building. Pick a narrower audience only if the tile genuinely doesn't apply to all tenants.
- Section โ choose where the tile appears. Leave it blank and it goes to Explore.
- Notifications โ click Connect a notification to this content to add a push: write the Push notification header and Push notification body, then pick when it sends (no earlier than the tile's publish date). Use this for things people need to know; skip it for routine posts, or tenants start ignoring the badge.
- Click Create. The tile's status moves from Draft to Live or Scheduled.
๐ก The next step is usually a communication. A tile waits to be found; a communication goes and finds people. For anything important, follow up with an email or push from Send a communication that links back to the tile.
Step 4: Look after it
Promote it. Click Add promoted content in the Promoted Content carousel at the top of the Homescreen tab, find the tile, and click Set as promoted content. The carousel holds six; once it's full, click Change on a slot to swap one out.
Reorder it. Within a section, drag tiles into the order you want. The first four in each section show on the app's Home tab; the rest are on Discover. Drag a tile to another section to move it.

Edit it. Click the tile, click Edit, change what you need, and click Save. Changes to a live tile are immediate.
Archive it โ don't delete it. When a tile is done, either let its Archive on date archive it or open it and choose Move to Archive from the โฎ menu. Open the tile first: the โฎ menu lives inside the editor, not on the tile's card in the Content list, which is where most people look for it. There's a Delete option in the same menu; resist it. An archived tile keeps its place in your history and can be brought back by updating its dates. A deleted tile is gone for good.
FAQ
The tile is live but tenants can't see it. Three things to check, in order: the Audience on the Target tab (a people icon on the tile means it goes to a narrower audience than the building default), the Section (no section means it's on Explore, not Home), and the Status (Scheduled tiles aren't visible until their date).
Why is my tile under Explore? It was created without a section. Open it, set the section on the Target tab, and Save โ or select it on the Explore tab and use Move to.
Can I reuse a tile from last year? Yes. Open it and click Duplicate from the โฎ menu for an independent copy, or open the archived original and update its dates to bring it back.
Can I publish the same tile in two languages? Yes, if multilingual content is enabled for your building โ use the language selector at the top of the editor to add each version. Tenants see the version matching their app language, or the only version that exists. Enabling languages is setup; ask your Customer Success Manager.
Deals โ how do I stop people claiming twice? Use Submit an RSVP or claim as the button type and choose Claim. Tick Limit number of Claims per individual and set the maximum to 1. The tile's Reports tab lists who claimed and when.
Where to find the analytics
- Per tile โ on a tile with RSVPs or claims, the Reports tab shows the totals and who responded: your quickest read on whether it landed.
- At a glance โ the Outreach card on the HqO Admin home page: its Trending content tab shows your best-performing content of the last 30 days, by views and clicks, next to tabs for Communications and Surveys.
- The content dashboard โ Intelligence โ My Portfolio Analytics โ Features โ Content. Four numbers, each with the change from the previous period: Reach rate (the share of your contacts who saw any content), Total content views, Action rate (the share of viewers who then used a tile's button โ only tiles with a button count), and Posting cadence (posts per week). Below them, the Content engagement funnel shows the drop from everyone you could reach to the people who actually engaged. Filter by Building, Tenant and Timeframe; the download icon exports it.
- Reading it โ a healthy reach rate with a low action rate means people see tiles but nothing on them asks for a response: add buttons. A low reach rate means the tiles aren't being surfaced: promote them, or pair them with a push. Posting cadence is the one to watch if engagement drifts down over a quarter.
