Enabling App Store Connect API Access
Apple is transitioning from email/password authentication to API key–based access for App Store Connect. Granting HqO API access lets us submit and manage your white-label app securely, without sharing account passwords.
Why API keys
API keys are Apple's recommended way to grant tooling access to a developer account:
- Enhanced security — keys reduce phishing and password-leak risk and can be rotated regularly
- Automation — keys enable automated build and submission pipelines with no manual sign-in
- Granular access control — each key carries only the permissions it needs
- Audit and monitoring — key usage can be tracked to spot suspicious activity
- Simpler management — keys are easier to generate, rotate, and revoke than extra user accounts
Requirements
⚠️ Note: Only the Account Holder on your Apple Developer account can enable API access and allow developers to generate API keys. No other role can complete these steps.
Enable API access
- Have your Account Holder log in to App Store Connect.
- Navigate to Users and Access, then select the Integrations tab.
- Click Request Access, agree to the terms in the popup, and submit.
- Access is typically granted immediately.
- If the HqO developer on your account holds the Admin role with permission to generate API keys, no further action is needed. HqO will contact you if any additional steps are required.
